Pippa Passes, Ky. (Jan. 3, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team pulled away in the closing minutes to take an 88-78 victory over nonconference foe Alice Lloyd College on Monday afternoon in Pippa Passes, Ky.

The first half was an even battle as the Buffs took a 42-37 lead into halftime. The second half saw the Milligan defense pick up, and the Buffs were able to take advantage of several transition opportunities. A late Hudson Fricke (Greeneville, S.C.) 3-pointer secured the win for Milligan.

The Buffs were led by former Sullivan Central standout Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.), who recorded 15 points. Fricke added 14 points, while Tim Harper (Catawba, N.C.) had 13 points. Justin Sylvester (Kingsport, Tenn.) scored 11 points in the game.

With the victory, Milligan improves to 4-8 overall.

The Buffs open AAC action on Wednesday, Jan. 5, when they welcome Tennessee Wesleyan College into Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
