Brevard, N.C. (Feb. 21, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buff softball program recorded their first wins of the season against NCAA D-II Brevard College on Sunday afternoon, a day after being swept by Mars Hill and Head Coach
Wes Holly celebrated his 1,000th career game. ÂÂ
In Holly's 1,002nd game as skipper of Milligan softball, the Lady Buffs recorded their first victory of the season as they came out on top 1-0 in the eight-inning contest.
Sidney Burns (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) got her first win of the season as she had two hits against her and struck out six batters.
Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) was 2-of-2 from the plate, while junior
Megan Heaton (Elizabethton, Tenn.) was 1-of-1 and had the game winning RBI.ÂÂ
In the second game, Milligan got on the scoreboard first, and never looked back as they came out on top 6-1. The Lady Buffs secured the victory with as they ended the game on a double-play.
Ryan Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) recorded her first win of the season in six innings of work and had one earned run in the contest. ÂÂ

Melanie Strickler (Kingsport, Tenn.) set a new career high four RBIs, and led the way for the Lady Buffs as she was 3-of-4 from the plate. Milligan also received outstanding efforts from the freshman of duo of
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) and
Morgan Holbrook (Knoxville, Tenn.) both had stellar afternoons as both were 2-of-4 with one RBI. ÂÂ
With the sweep, the Lady Buffs move to 2-2 overall.    ÂÂ
Milligan will return to the field on Wednesday afternoon when they host another NCAA Division II school, Lees-McRae College, as the Lady Bobcats will make the short trip from Banner Elk, N.C., to Anglin Field with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m., in the doubleheader.
