Buffs nab victory over King

Bristol, Tenn. (March 10, 2010) --- The Milligan College baseball team picked up a 19-10 nonconference win over former AAC foe King College on the campus of King on Wednesday afternoon.

In the nine inning game, the Buffs jumped out quickly with five runs in the first inning. King responded as they closed the gap to 6-4 at the end of the third inning, but Milligan quickly widened the gap with a six run fourth inning. That was as close as the Tornado could get as Milligan secured the win with four innings in the eighth.

Mike Gallo (Peabody, Mass.) was credited with the victory with two innings of work. Offensively, freshman Brett Maddox (Lake Butler, Fla.) led the way as he was 4-for-6 from the plate with three RBIs. Maddox had a two run homerun in the first inning, while former Happy Valley standout Ricky Morgan (Johnson City, Tenn.) added two solo homeruns in the second and fifth innings. Randy Rabon (York, S.C.) also had three RBIs in the contest with a homerun. As a team, the Buffs had 15 RBIs.

With the victory, Milligan moves to 9-6 on the season while the Tornado dropped to 7-6. The Buffs remained at 2-1 in the AAC.

Milligan hosts AAC foe Tennessee Wesleyan for a weekend series beginning with a double header on Saturday and a nine inning contest on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
