Lady Buffs drop AAC opener to Lady Eagles

Milligan College, Tenn. (March 19, 2010) --- The Milligan College softball team dropped both games to the Lady Eagles of Reinhardt (Ga.) College Friday afternoon on Anglin field in their AAC opener. The Lady Buffs lost the opener 8-0 and the second game 2-0.  

In the first of two, junior Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) was credited with the loss for Milligan in three innings of work. Burns gave up seven hits and yielded four runs, all of which were earned. For the year, Burns is 6-4. 

Senior Alicia Engle (Erwin, Tenn.) and freshman Morgan Holbrook (Knoxville, Tenn.) had the Lady Buffs lone hits in the first game; Holbrook was 1-for-2, while Engle was 1-for-1.  

In the nightcap, junior Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) was handed the loss inside the pitcher's circle for the Lady Buffs. Musick pitched a complete game in the effort and gave up two runs on five hits. For the year, Musick is 3-3.  

The offensive struggles continued for the Lady Buffs in the second game as Milligan only mustered up four hits. Burns led the way going 1-for-2, while Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.), Megan Heaton (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Holbrook were all 1-for-3.     

The Lady Buffs host former AAC rival King College Monday afternoon for a non-conference matchup against the Lady Tornado. The first pitch for this doubleheader contest is slated for 2 p.m.
