Milligan College, Tenn. (March 24, 2010) --- The Milligan College softball team took both games of a double header on Wednesday afternoon against the Lady Scots of Covenant College, 8-0 and 2-1.
In the first game, Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) started and threw five innings, only allowing three hits, no runs, and striking out five batters on her way to picking up the win. The game was called for the run rule in the fifth inning.
At the plate, Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the way going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Also helping out offensively was Megan Heaton (Elizabethton, Tenn.) going 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Morgan Holbrook (Knoxville, Tenn.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Melanie Strickler (Kingsport, Tenn.) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
In the nightcap, Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) got the nod and threw three innings, allowing three hits, one run, and struck out one batter. Brooke Ingle (Waynesville, N.C.) came in and threw the last four innings while holding the Lady Scots scoreless.
Biggs once again took care of the offense by going 2-for-3 with the only two RBIs of the game. Heaton went 2-for-3 as well.
With the wins the Lady Buffs improve to 12-7 overall, and 2-2 in the AAC.
The Lady Buffs will travel to Virginia Intermont on Saturday March, 27, for the first conference road game. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
