Lady Buffs sweep Bluefield on the road

Bluefield, Va. (April 2, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buff softball program picked up two AAC victories on Friday afternoon as they swept the Bluefield College Lady Rams by a score of 6-0 in both contests.

In the first game, Sidney Burns (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) picked up the victory in the pitching circle. Burns pitched all seven innings with 11 strikeouts and allowed only one hit.

At the plate, sophomore Jessica Fix (Chesapeake, Va.) led the way as she was 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Freshman Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) was 3-for-3, while Alicia Engle (Erwin, Tenn.) was 3-for-3 with all three hits being bunts.

The second game saw Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) pick up the victory and Brooke Ingle (Waynesville, N.C.) get the save. Musick pitched three innings and recorded three strikeouts while Ingle pitched four innings and only allowed one hit.

At the plate, Fix led the way as she was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Abby Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.) was 1-for-2 with one RBI while Burns was 1-for-2 from the plate in the second contest.

With the wins, Milligan moves to 6-4 in the AAC and 18-9 overall, while Bluefield falls to 0-4 in conference play and 6-10 overall.

The Lady Buffs return to action on April 7th when they host AAC foe Union College (Ky.). The first pitch in the AAC doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m.
