Bristol, Va. (March 27, 2010) --- The Milligan College softball team traveled to Virginia Intermont College to play the Cobras on Saturday afternoon in a AAC doubleheader, with the Lady Cobras winning game one 5-4, and the Lady Buffs winning game two, 10-1.
In the first game, Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) was called to start once again and threw all seven innings, scattering three hits and allowing five runs. She also recorded six strikeouts on her way to the loss.
At the plate the Lady Buffs were led by freshman catcher Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) who went 1-for-2 with a homerun and two RBIs. Also chiming in with some offense was Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) who went 2-for-4 while Abby Connor (Ormond Beach, Fla.) went 1-for-1 with an RBI.
In the second game, Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) got the nod for the Lady Buffs and threw three innings, only allowing two hits and striking out two batters on her way to the win. Brooke Ingle (Waynesville, N.C.) came in and shut the Lady Cobras down pitching three scoreless innings to end the game.
Leading the way offensively, was Biggs once again as she went 2-for-3 hitting two more homeruns and tallying four more RBIs. Also adding a spark at the plate was Burns going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Ingle was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
The Lady Buffs improve their record to 13-8 overall and 3-3 in the AAC.
The Lady Buffs next opponent will be Tusculum College as they will face off Sunday, March 28, at Anglin Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
