Milligan bats power victory over VI

Bristol, Va. (March 28, 2010) --- A day after recording two victories, the Milligan College Buff baseball team recorded 16 hits including three two run homeruns to take a 11-1 victory over the Virginia Intermont Cobras on Sunday afternoon in Bristol, Va. to sweep the AAC series.

Aaron Dorriety (Pickens, S.C.) recorded the victory from the mound. In seven innings of work, Dorriety only allowed two hits with no earned runs and struck out five Cobra batters. With the win, Dorriety moves to 4-0 in AAC play.

At the plate, Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) and Todd Caldwell (Johnson City, Tenn.) went 2-for-5 with three RBIs apiece while Eric Oxley (Ardmore, Tenn.) was 3-for-5. Ford, Caldwell and Oxley all had two run homeruns in the contest.

“It was good to get the win today especially on the road,” Head Coach Nathan Meade said. “It was a big plus because we had two tough games yesterday and bounced back for the victory today. Dorriety came out throwing, and we are very pleased with how he is pitching.”

With the win, the Buffs moved to 9-2 in the AAC and 18-8 overall while the Cobras fall to 1-10 in conference play and 8-15 overall.

Milligan returns to action on Tuesday, March 30th when they host former AAC foe King College for a nine inning contest. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
