Black Mountain, N.C. (March 30, 2010) --- The Milligan College women's softball team split a conference doubleheader against the Lady Cavaliers from Montreat College, while the Lady Cavaliers won the first game 7-6, the Lady Buffs pulled out the win in the second game 4-2.
Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) got the starting nod for the Lady Buffs in the first game, pitching 3 1/3 innings, allowing six hits, two unearned runs, and five strikeouts on her way to a no decision. Brooke Ingle (Waynesville, N.C.) came in to relieve Musick and pitched three innings, giving up six hits and five runs (two earned) on her way to collecting the loss.
Leading the way at the plate was Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Also providing a helping hand was Jessica Fix (Chesapeake, Va.) who went 2-for-3, while Alicia Engle (Erwin, Tenn.) went 3-for-4.
In the nightcap, Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) earned the start going all seven innings, letting up six hits, two runs (one earned), while striking out five batters on her way to the win.
Displaying some offense once again was Fix, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Engle also chipped in going 2-for-3, while Camille Olvey (Knoxville, Tenn.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
With the split the Lady Buffs go to 4-4 in the AAC and 14-9 overall.
The next game for Milligan College is Wednesday, March 31 at home as they will take on NCAA Division II North Greenville University in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
