Milligan College, Tenn. (August 28, 2010) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team opened the 2010 season off in winning style as they knocked off Columbia College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Anglin Field.
Rachel Martin (Blountville, Tenn.) led the way for the Lady Buffs. Martin, a member of last season's AAC All-Conference team, scored two goals in the contest. Sophomore Helen Biard (Huntsville, Ala.) added another goal to the Milligan cause in her lone shot attempt. At the goalkeeper position, Heather Crumplen (Courtice, Ontario) recorded four saves and the shutout.
"It is always good to start the season off with a win," Head Coach Lisa Buckley said. “I thought we played pretty well today, but we still have a lot of work to do to get where we want to be.”
The win moves Milligan to 1-0 on the year.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Sept. 1, when they travel to Roanoke College for a nonconference tilt. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
