Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2010) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team opened AAC play with a 3-0 victory over Bluefield College at Anglin Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Lauren Lameier (Woodstock, Ga.) opened the scoring when she scored in the second minute of the contest with an assist by
Erin Brewer (Brownsburg, Ind.). The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the eighth minute when
Rachel Martin (Blountville, Tenn.) found the net with the assist going to
Samantha Barton (Marietta, Ga.). In the second half, Martin was on the receiving end of an assist from Lameier and scored her second goal of the game in the 51st minute.
Defensively,
Heather Crumplen (Courtice, Ontario) recorded five saves in the contest.
“It is nice to get our first conference win under our belt,” Head Coach
Lisa Buckley said. “It was also nice to take the lead early, and we managed to play every player today. It was good to get everyone in especially because we have a tough game on Friday.”
With the victory, Milligan improves to 2-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Friday, Sept. 17, when they host University of the South. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
