Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buffs stayed perfect in AAC play as they defeated Virginia Intermont 3-0 on Thursday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Milligan came out strong as they took the first set by a score of 25-16. In the second set, the Lady Buffs were forced to rally, but came back to take a 28-26 victory. Milligan secured the match with a 25-14 victory in the third set.
Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 32 assists and six kills.
Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) led the Lady Buffs in kills with 12, while
Ashley Agin (Atlanta, Ga.) led in digs with 15.
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 12 digs and eight kills, and
Erin Biddle (Newport, Tenn.) recorded 10 digs.
“It's nice to get a conference win at home,” Head Coach
Doneva Bays said. “I am happy with how we played, and I am proud of the way we bounced back after last night's loss.”
With the win, the Lady Buffs improve to 11-5 overall and 3-0 in AAC play.
Milligan returns to action when they travel to Barbourville, Ky., on Tuesday, Sept. 21 to face Union College in an AAC matchup. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
