Buffs basketball takes AAC victory over VI

Bristol, Va. (Jan. 15, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team hung on in the closing minutes to take a 76-72 victory against Virginia Intermont on Saturday night inside the Cobra Den in Bristol, Va.

The first half saw neither team able to pull away as the Buffs clung to a 39-38 lead at the break. Milligan took control in the closing minutes as they forced the Cobras into bad shots, and the Buffs took advantage to secure the victory.

Hudson Fricke (Greeneville, S.C.) led the Buffs as he went 7-of-13 from the 3-point line for 21 points. Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded 18 points and nine rebounds, while Justin Sylvester (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 11 points.

As a team, the Buffs were 27-of-64 (42%) from the field and 10-of-27 (37%) from behind the arc.

With the win, Milligan moves to 3-1 in AAC play and 7-9 overall. The Cobras fall to 5-14 overall and 0-4 in AAC action.

The Buffs will finish a three-game road stretch on Wednesday, Jan. 19, as they travel to Barbourville, Ky., for a showdown with Union College. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
