Milligan College, Tenn. (Jan. 24, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team came up short in their final nonconference game of the season as they fell 95-76 to Tennessee Temple on Monday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
In the first half, the Crusaders opened up the game with a 7-4 lead in the first four minutes. Milligan continued to fight, but trailed 18-10 at the 12 minute mark. The Buffs cut the lead to four points off a
Tim Harper (Catawba, N.C.) 3-pointer with just over five minutes remaining in the half. However, that was as close as they could get in period as they trailed 43-36 at the break.
Tennessee Temple extended their lead to 10 points in the opening minutes of the second half. Milligan quickly responded as they closed the gap with back-to-back 3-pointers from
Hudson Fricke (Greeneville, S.C.), and the Buffs pulled within three points after a 3-point play from Harper. For the remainder of the half, the Buffs kept making runs at the Crusaders, but were unable to close the gap any further.
Fricke led the Buffs with 23 points.
Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) added 13 points and eight rebounds, while freshman
Kyle Grisby (Charlotte, N.C.) recorded 10 points and five assists.
As a team, the Buffs were 24-of-55 (44%) from the floor and 8-of-19 (42%) from the 3-point line. Tennessee Temple was 32-of-57 (56%) from the field and 8-of-16 (50%) from behind the arc.
With the loss, Milligan falls to 9-10 on the year and remains 5-1 in AAC action.
The Buffs return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Reinhardt University in Waleska, Ga., for a AAC matchup. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
