Lady Buffs basketball wins fourth straight

Waleska, Ga. (Jan. 26, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team picked up their fourth straight AAC victory on Wednesday night as they defeated Reinhardt University 58-54 in Waleska, Ga.

The start of the first half saw neither team able to get into an offensive rhythm as the game was tied at four points apiece at the 15:28 mark. The next eight minutes saw the Lady Buffs embark on a 10-3 run to take a 14-7 lead. Milligan maintained that advantage for the rest of the half, before Reinhardt used a late run to close the Lady Buffs lead to 30-25 at the break.

The Lady Eagles closed the gap to one point in the opening minutes of the second half. AAC Player of the week Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) answered for the Lady Buffs as she scored five straight points to extend the margin. After Reinhardt closed the gap back to one point, back-to-back 3-pointers from Victoria Dailey (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Ashlee Price (Rogersville, Tenn.) gave Milligan a seven point lead right after the mid-point of the second half. The Lady Buffs maintained the advantage until the final minutes, and hung on to a late Reinhardt charge.

Mandela recorded her 13th double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) added 13 points, while Price scored 12 points.

The Lady Buffs were 20-of-62 (32%) from the floor and 4-of-15 (26%) from the 3-point line. Reinhardt was 22-of-62 (35%) from the field and 3-of-10 (30%) from behind the arc.

With the win, Milligan improves to 5-2 in the AAC and 17-6 overall.

The Lady Buffs return to action on Saturday, Jan. 29, when they travel to Athens, Tenn., for a vital conference matchup with Tennessee Wesleyan. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
