Athens, Tenn. (Jan. 29, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team was unable to overcome a sluggish first half as they fell 82-61 to AAC rival Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday in Athens, Tenn.
The Lady Buffs struggled to find their offensive rhythm early as they found themselves down 36-22 at the half. Despite a hard fought effort, Milligan was unable to close the gap in the second half.
AAC Player of the week
Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) had 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) had 13 points, while
Tracy Hardiman (Maryville, Tenn.) and
Megan Casteel (Greeneville, Tenn.) added seven points apiece.
The Lady Buffs were 23-of-61 (37%) from the floor and 3-of-7 (43%) from the 3-point line. TWC was 32-of-67 (48%) from the field and 11-of-25 (44%) from behind the arc.
With the loss, Milligan falls to 17-7 overall and 5-3 in AAC action.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 2, when they travel to Bluefield, Va., for a conference matchup with Bluefield College. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
