Montgomery, Ala. (Jan. 30, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team came up short in both of their games on Sunday in Montgomery, Ala. Milligan fell 13-9 to #13 LSU-Shreveport in the day's opening matchup and 8-4 to #20 Faulkner University.
In the day's first game, the Buffs jumped out to an early 9-2 lead after the third inning. However, Milligan was unable to respond to a late Pilots' run that saw them take the lead late in the contest.
Sophomore
Cody Hyder (Johnson City, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 from the plate.
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) and
Dustin Clawson (Johnson City, Tenn.) each recorded a double.
Sean Robinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) got the nod on the mound for the Buffs and recorded a no decision in five innings of work.
JJ Bergamin (Ontario, Canada) was handed the loss in two innings.
The second game saw the Buffs take an early lead. However, Faulkner responded quickly to take the 8-4 victory.
Milligan falls to 0-4 on the season.
“It was a tough weekend for us,” Head Coach
Nathan Meade said. “Obviously, we had hoped to come out of there with a better record. It is frustrating because we had a lead in every game, but we couldn't finish the ball game.”
The Buffs return to action on Friday, Feb. 4, when they travel to Atlanta, Ga., for a weekend series with Southern Polytechnic.
