Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team used a late goal to take a 2-1 victory over AAC newcomer Columbia College on Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Field.
ÂÂ
The Fighting Koalas got on the board first when Jessica Martinez scored off an assist from Claire Williamson in the 16
th minute. The Buffaloes responded in the 20
th minute when
Kelsey Jones (Royersford, Pa.) beat the Columbia goalkeeper to tie the game. Neither team was able to score in the closing minutes of the first half as the game remained tied at 1-1.
ÂÂ

th minute when
Jacklyn Orange (Bagdad, Ky.) knocked in a
Rachel Martin (Blountville, Tenn.) pass to give the Buffaloes a 2-1 lead. The Milligan defense kept the Fighting Koalas at bay to preserve the victory.
ÂÂ
“They are a difficult team to play against,” Head Coach
Lisa Buckley said. “You can do the right things, and still not always be successful because they sit in there and pass a lot. I'll take the 2-1 win, and be happy to have another conference win.”
ÂÂ
With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 7-4-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
ÂÂ
The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they travel to Rome, Ga., for a nonconference clash with Berry College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
