Milligan volleyball picks up AAC victory

 Bluefield, Va. (Oct. 20, 2011) --- The Milligan College volleyball team picked up a 3-1 AAC road victory over Bluefield College on Thursday night in Bluefield, Va.
 
   The Buffaloes came out of the gate strong as they cruised to a 25-11 first set victory. Milligan continued to hold the momentum as they ran to a 25-14 victory in the game's second set. Bluefield, however, fought back to capture the third set by a score of 25-23. In the decisive fourth set, the Buffaloes jumped out early to take a 25-18 victory.
 
   Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 48 assists. Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had 15 kills and three solo blocks, while Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 12 kills. Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 27 digs. Freshman Rachel Renville (Broomfield, Colo.) and Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) had 11 and 10 kills, respectively.    
 
   “It's a great win for us,” Head Coach Doneva Bays said. “I'm proud to get a road conference win, and I look for us to continue this momentum into next week.”
 
   With the win, Milligan improves to 7-5 in AAC action and 9-15 overall.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25, with a crucial AAC road game at Montreat. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
