Milligan volleyball rallies for victory over Reinhardt

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 29, 2011) --- The Milligan College volleyball team rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 victory over Reinhardt on Saturday morning inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
 
   In the game's first set, the Buffaloes saw a late rally fall short as they dropped the set by a score of 28-26. Milligan fought back from an early deficit in the second set, but Reinhardt pulled away late to win 25-16. The third set saw the Buffaloes jump ahead early as they took a 25-14 set victory. The Buffaloes rallied back from a late deficit to capture the fourth set 25-23 to force another set. In the decisive fifth set, the teams traded points before Milligan used a 6-1 run to capture the set and match 15-13.
 
   Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 40 assists and 18 digs in the match. Katelin Henson (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied up 33 digs to lead the Buffaloes, while Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 25 digs and eight kills. Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) had a team high 13 kills. Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded 18 digs and eight kills, and Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had nine kills and two solo blocks.
 
   "We came out flat, and got ourselves in a 2-0 deficit," Head Coach Doneva Bays said. "However, we bounced back, and I'm proud of how we fought back."
 
   With the win, Milligan improves to 10-17 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
 
   The Buffaloes wrap up conference play on Tuesday, Nov. 1, when they travel to Virginia Intermont. Game time in Bristol, Va., is slated for 6:30 p.m.
