Buffaloes volleyball falls to Columbia

Columbia, S.C. (Oct. 4, 2011) --- The Milligan College volleyball came up short in AAC action on Tuesday night as they fell 3-0 to AAC newcomer Columbia College in Columbia, S.C.

   The Buffaloes fought hard in the first set, but they came up short as Columbia took the set by a score of 25-16. The second set saw Milligan led throughout the set, but they were unable to hold off a late Koala charge as they fell 25-23. In the decisive third set, the Buffaloes were unable to rally as they fell 25-20.

   Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 23 assists and eight digs. Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 20 digs, while Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had seven kills and one solo block. Rachel Renville (Broomfield, Colo.), Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) and Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded five kills apiece. English also had eight digs.

   With the loss, Milligan falls to 6-4 in AAC action and 8-12 overall.

   The Buffaloes return to action on Thursday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Barbourville, Ky., for a clash with Union College. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
