Buffaloes basketball falls on road to No. 19 Warner

 Lake Wales, Fla. (Nov. 4, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team was unable to bounce back after falling behind early as they fell 98-77 to No. 19 Warner University on Friday night in Lake Wales, Fla.
 
   The Royals opened the game on a 6-0 run, but freshman Mickey Woods (Port Arthur, Texas) drained a 3-pointer to cut the Milligan deficit in half three minutes in. After Warner clawed their way back to a 10-point lead, the Buffaloes cut the gap again with a Kyle Grisby (Charlotte, N.C.) 3-pointer. However, the Royals went on a 16-3 run to pull away to a 31-13 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Milligan fought to close the gap at the half, but trailed 45-24 at the break.
 
   In the half, Milligan was 8-of-32 (25%) from the floor and 2-of-5 (40%) from behind the arc, while Warner was an impressive 17-of-24 (70%) from the field and 4-of-7 (57%) from the 3-point line.
 
   After Warner scored five straight points to open the second half, Milligan saw Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) score on a layup and Grisby drained a 3-pointer. The Buffaloes tried to make runs in the second half, but continued to trail 68-49 with 10 minutes remaining. A Woods' three capped an 8-2 run for the Buffaloes, but that was as close as Milligan could get for the remainder of the game.
 
   Grisby led Milligan with 17 points, while Woods added 11 points. Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) had 10 points and six rebounds. Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.) had nine points in the game.
 
   Overall, Milligan was 27-of-70 (38%) from the floor and 10-of-20 (50%) from the 3-point line. Warner ended the game 36-of-63 (57%) from the field and 6-of-18 (33%) from behind the arc.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 1-1 on the season.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5, as they continue their two-game road swing through Florida as they visit No. 8 Embry-Riddle University. Game time is slated for 7 p.m., in Daytona Beach, Fla.
