McKenzie, Tenn. (Nov. 5, 2011) --- The Milligan College basketball team came up short in their season opening game as they fell 93-66 to Bethel University, who is ranked sixth in NAIA Division I, on Saturday evening in McKenzie, Tenn.

  Bethel slowly pulled away in the first half from the Buffaloes as they took a 50-38 lead into the half. Milligan tried to make a run in the game's second half, but was unable to maintain pace.

Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) had 15 points, and
Ashlee Price (Rogersville, Tenn.) had 12 points. Former Hampton standout
Chelsea Weddle (Hampton, Tenn.) had nine points in her first career game, and
Jaimee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) ended the game with nine points and seven rebounds.

  As a team, the Buffaloes were 24-of-67 (36%) from the field and 6-of-23 (26%) from the 3-point line, while Bethel was 37-of-69 (54%) from the floor and 10-of-27 (37%) from behind the arc.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 8, for their home opener against Lees-McRae College. Game time inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse is slated for 6 p.m.
