Milligan men's basketball falls in exhibition

Lexington, Va. (Dec. 10, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's basketball was unable to keep pace with NCAA Division I Virginia Military Institute as they fell 122-73 on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va.

Freshman Mickey Woods (Port Arthur, Tex.) opened the game's scoring with a 3-pointer to give Milligan an early lead. Neither team could pull out to a lead as the Buffaloes led 10-9 five minutes into the game.

Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.) extended the Milligan lead to three points with a made jumper, but VMI responded quickly as they worked their way to a double-digit lead that they turned into a 67-31 halftime lead. Despite a hard fought effort, Milligan was unable to keep pace with the Big South's Keydets.

Woods lead the way for Milligan with 12 points, while Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) had 11 points. Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) and DeVault had 10 points apiece.

As a team, Milligan was 25-of-69 (36%) from the floor and 4-of-18 (22%) from the 3-point line. VMI was an impressive 38-of-59 (64%) from the field and 12-of-25 (48%) from behind the arc.
