Atlanta, Ga. (Feb. 12, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team split with Atlanta Christian College in a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga. Milligan fell 5-2 in the day's first game, but bounced back to a 14-1 victory in game two.
In the first game,
Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) was 2-for-3 at the place to lead the Buffaloes.
Bart Roark (Mountain City, Tenn.),
Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.),
Tyler Hutson (Church Hill, Tenn.) and
Cory Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) all recorded a hit in the game.
Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) got the nod on the mound for Milligan, and was handed the loss. In five innings of work, Trivett allowed five hits, struck out five batters and had three earned runs against him.
The second game of the day saw Milligan's bats come alive as they had four homeruns, and the pitching staff combined to throw a no-hitter.
Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) hit a grand slam, while Jones, Roark and Hutson all recorded homeruns in the game.
Jordan Rawlyk (Saskatoon, Canada) was credited with the win in three innings of work. Rawlyk gave up one hit on no hits. Freshman
Logan Wright (Johnson City, Tenn.) pitched two innings with one strikeout, and former Happy Valley standout
Ethan Fleenor (Johnson City, Tenn.) pitched an inning.
Milligan moves to 2-8 on the season.
The Buffaloes return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16, when they travel to Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C. The first pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
