Buffaloes baseball sweeps UVA-Wise

Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon as they swept former AAC foe UVA-Wise at Anglin Field. The first game saw the Buffaloes win 5-1 and they took the second game 7-6.

In the first game, Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) got the start on the mound and the win. In six innings of work, Trivett allowed six hits and struck out four batters. JJ Bergamin (Ontario, Canada) was given the save.

At the plate, Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Cory Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) was 1-for-1 with a run scored, while Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) added a solo homerun.

In the second game, Jake Howell (Johnson City, Tenn.) took advantage of a UVA-Wise error in the bottom of seventh as he crossed the plate to give Milligan the walk off victory.

LA Owens (Dillon, S.C.) started the game on the mound and went four innings. He gave up four runs, two of which were earned, and struck out four batters. Bergamin was handed the win in the game's final inning.

Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) was 3-for-3 at the plate with a stolen base, while Kirk was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Hilton was also 2-for-4, and had a RBI in the game.

With the wins, Milligan improves to 5-12 on the season.

The Buffaloes return to action on Sunday, Feb. 27, as they host UVA-Wise in a single game. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
