Harrogate, Tenn. (Feb. 6, 2011) --- The Milligan College softball team fell short in their opening day doubleheader against Lincoln Memorial University on Sunday afternoon in Harrogate, Tenn. The Lady Buffs fell 8-3 in the first game and fell 5-0 in the second game.
In the first game,
Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) got the nod in the pitching circle. Burns allowed eight hits and four earned runs, while striking out eight batters in five innings of work.
Jessica Fix (Chesapeake, Va.) was 1-for-3 at the plate with one homerun and one RBI, while
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) was 1-for-4.
Freshman
Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) got the start for the second game, and allowed five runs on 11 hits. Connatser struck out seven batters.
Megan Heaton (Elizabethton, Tenn.) was 1-for-1 to lead the Lady Buffs at the plate, while Fix was 1-for-3.
Milligan returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 15, when they host UVA-Wise at Anglin Field. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
