Athens, Tenn. (Mar. 25, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team fell in two AAC games on Friday afternoon as they fell to Tennessee Wesleyan. The Buffaloes fell 3-2 in the first game, and saw a late rally fall short as they fell 5-4 in nine innings.
In the first game, the Buffaloes got on the board in the top of the second as
Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) hit a solo homerun. Milligan added another run in the fourth as
Cory Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) crossed the plate. However, the Bulldogs added two runs in the sixth to take the victory.
Jones led the way at the plate as he was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was 2-for-4.
On the mound,
Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) got the start and was handed the loss. In six innings of work, Trivett allowed three runs on six hits.
In the second game, Ford crossed the plate to give Milligan an early 1-0 lead. Tennessee Wesleyan added two runs in the bottom of the third. The Buffaloes responded with two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Bulldogs tied the game to force extra innings.
Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) hit a solo homerun to leftfield in the top of the ninth, but the Bulldogs scored two runs to take the victory.
Jones was 3-for-4, while Hilton and White were both 2-for-4.
LA Owens (Dillon, S.C.) got the start on the mound. In seven innings of work, Owens allowed three runs on six hits.
With the pair of losses, Milligan dropped to 16-15 and 6-2 in AAC action.
The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, March 25, when they return to Tennessee Wesleyan for a nine inning game. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
