Milligan baseball splits with SCAD

Savannah, Ga. (Mar. 8, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team split a pair of nonconference games on Tuesday afternoon with SCAD-Savannah in Savannah, Ga. The Buffaloes fell 5-0 in the first game before bouncing back to take the second game by a score of 4-2.

In the first game, Milligan was unable to answer runs by SCAD in the later innings. At the plate, Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was 2-for-3, while Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) and Bart Roark (Mountain City, Tenn.) recorded a hit.

On the mound, Jordan Rawlyk (Saskatoon, Canada) got the start and received the loss for Milligan. In three innings of work, Rawlyk gave up two hits and two earned runs, while striking out four batters.

The second game saw the Buffaloes jump out early as they scored three runs in the first inning, and added another run in the fourth to take the victory.

Kirk and Ford were both 2-for-4, while Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Roark were both 1-for-2 with an RBI apiece.

JJ Bergamin (Ontario, Canada) recorded the win as he gave up just one run in two innings of work. Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) was handed the save in three innings of work as he struck out five batters and allowed just two hits.

Milligan moves to 7-13 on the season.

The Buffaloes return to action on Wednesday, March 9, when they visit Shorter College in Rome, Ga. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
