Waleska, Ga. (Apr. 12, 2011) --- The Milligan College softball team came up short in an AAC doubleheader to #21 Reinhardt University on Tuesday afternoon in Waleska, Ga. The Buffaloes dropped the first game 3-1, and fell in the second game by a score of 11-3.
After Reinhardt put two runs on the board in the bottom of the second, Milligan scored when
Brittany DiRobbio (Oviedo, Fla.) crossed the plate in the top of the fourth. However, the Buffaloes were unable to close the gap any further.
In the pitching circle,
Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) got the start and was handed the loss. In six innings of work, Burns allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits. Burns struck out seven Reinhardt batters.
At the plate,
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) was 1-for-2, while freshman
Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 1-for-3 with a RBI. DiRobbio had a 2-for-3 performance.
The second game saw the Buffaloes fall behind early and they were unable to catch up to the Lady Eagles.
Megan Heaton (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Lambdin were 1-for-1 with one RBI apiece.
Abby Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.) was 1-for-2 with a RBI.
Freshman
Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) got the start in the pitching circle, and gave up five earned runs on seven hits in the loss.
Milligan drops 20-16 overall and 3-4 in AAC action.
The Buffaloes are slated to return to action on Wednesday, April 13, when they travel to AAC foe Bryan College. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m., in Dayton, Tenn.
