Milligan softball defeats Bryan in AAC doubleheader

Chattanooga, Tenn. (Apr. 13, 2011) --- The Milligan College softball team picked up a pair of AAC victories on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated Bryan College in a doubleheader in Chattanooga, Tenn. Milligan took a 7-1 victory in the first game, and picked up a 4-0 victory in the second game.

In the first game, the Buffaloes jumped out early, and never looked back on their way to the victory. In the pitching circle, Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) picked up the win as she allowed just one hit and recorded six strikeouts. Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) picked up the save.

Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) was 3-for-4, while Abbey Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.) recorded a 2-for-2 performance at the plate. Brittany DiRobbio (Oviedo, Fla.) was 2-for-3, and Jessica Fix (Chesapeake, Va.) was 2-for-4.

The second game saw Milligan keep the Lady Lions' offense off balance and off of the scoreboard. Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) was 1-for-2, and Fix was 1-for-3. Burns picked up the victory as she allowed just two hits and struck out eight Bryan batters. Connatser recorded the save.

With the pair of victories, Milligan improves to 22-16 overall and 5-4 in the AAC.

Milligan returns to action on Friday, April 15, when they host Virginia Intermont to resume last Saturday's suspended game. The action is slated to start at 3 p.m., at Anglin Field.
