Buffaloes baseball splits with Bryan

Milligan College, Tenn. (Apr. 15, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team opened the final home AAC series of the 2011 season with a split of an AAC doubleheader with Bryan College. The Buffaloes lost the first game 2-1 in eight innings and won the second game by a score of 14-10.

The Lions opened the scoring in the third on a homerun by Shane Clawson. The Buffaloes struck back in the later innings when Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) drove in Corey Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. The Lions scored on a hit in the top of the eighth and the Buffaloes were unable to answer.

NAIA Pre-Season All American Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) started the first game and pitched all eight innings, recording 8 strikeouts and giving up two earned runs.

Hilton led the Buffs in the first game, going 2-for-4 with the run scored.

In the second game, the Lions scored on a passed ball in the top of the first, and then exploded in the second for six runs, going up 7-0. Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) and White both hit home runs in the second to cut the lead to 7-2. Kolat hit another homerun to spark a Milligan comeback as the Buffaloes tied the game at 8-8 in the fourth.

Bart Roark (Mountain City, Tenn.) put the Buffaloes on top in the fifth with a homerun and Milligan added four more runs to bring the score to 13-8 after five. Kolat added another homerun in the sixth to cap the scoring for the Buffaloes.

LA Owens (Dillon, S.C.) started the second and gave up seven runs on two hits.

Kolat led the Buffaloes at the plate in the second game, going 4-for-4 with three homeruns and five RBIs. White went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

The Buffaloes are slated to finish up the weekend with a nine-inning game on Saturday, April 16, against Bryan. First pitch set for 3 p.m.
