Barbourville, Ky. (Apr. 23, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team fell short in a pair of AAC game to Union College on Saturday in Barbourville, Ky. The Buffaloes fell 6-4 in the day's first game, and fell 3-1 in the second game.
In the first game, Milligan took an early lead with three runs in the top of the second inning. However, the Bulldogs answered with two runs of their own in the second and two more in the third. Milligan was unable to get back in front of their AAC foe.
Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was 3-for-4 at the plate, while
Tyler Hutson (Church Hill, Tenn.) was 2-for-4. Corey Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) had a 1-for-2 performance.
On the mound,
Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) was handed the loss. In five innings pitched, Trivett gave up five runs, four of which were earned, on seven hits, while recording seven strikeouts.
The second game saw the Bulldogs jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Buffaloes responded when
Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) drove in
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.), but that was as close as Milligan could get.
LA Owens (Dillon, S.C.) got the start on the mound, and was handed the loss. In four innings pitched, Owens gave up three runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Kirk was 2-for-2 at the plate, while White was 2-for-3.
Milligan falls to 10-10 in AAC play and 21-26 overall.
The Buffaloes return to action on Monday, April 25, when they return to Barbourville, Ky., for a nine-inning contest against Union. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
