Milligan College, Tenn. (Apr. 16, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team scored four runs in the final inning to take a 6-5 victory over AAC foe Bryan College in a nine-inning contest on Saturday afternoon at Anglin Field.
After Bryan scored two runs in the opening frame, Corey Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) drove in
Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) to put the Buffaloes on the board. The Lions scored two more runs in the second, but
Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) crossed the plate in the bottom of the third to keep Milligan within two runs. Bryan added another run in the fifth to extend their advantage to 5-2.
Neither team could get back on the board until the bottom of the ninth when Milligan began their comeback.
Bart Roark (Mountain City, Tenn.) began the rally with a two-run homerun.
Cody Hyder (Johnson City, Tenn.) crossed the plate to tie the game, and
Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) crossed the plate on a Kirk single to give Milligan the victory.
Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Roark had two RBIs.
Sean Robinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) got the start on the mound for the Buffaloes. In a no-decision, Robinson gave up five runs on 10 hits in six innings of work.
JJ Bergamin (Ontario, Canada) recorded the win for Milligan as he struck out one batter and allowed just one hit in the game's final inning.
With the win, Milligan improves to 10-8 in AAC action, and 20-23 overall.
The Buffaloes return to action on Wednesday, April 20, when they travel to former AAC foe UVA-Wise for a nonconference doubleheader. First pitch in Wise, Va., is slated for 5 p.m.
