Buffaloes baseball splits nonconference doubleheader

Wise, Va. (Apr. 20, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team split a nonconference doubleheader with former AAC foe UVA-Wise on Wednesday night in Wise, Va. The Buffaloes won the first game 11-3, but fell 7-5 in the nightcap.

In the first game, Milligan jumped out early, and never looked back. Ethan Fleenor (Johnson City, Tenn.) picked up the win. In a complete game, Fleenor allowed seven hits and struck out two batters. Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Cory Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

The second game saw the Buffaloes hang tough, but they were unable to get back in front of the Cavaliers. Jake Howell (Johnson City, Tenn.) was handed the loss as he allowed three runs and two walks. At the plate, Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Bart Roark (Mountain City, Tenn.) were both 2-for-3, and Roark added two RBIs. Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was 2-for-4.

With the split, Milligan moves to 22-23 overall and remain 11-7 in AAC play.

The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, April 22, when they kick off a weekend AAC series with Union College. First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
