Milligan women's soccer falls in double OT

Williamsburg, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team came up short on Wednesday afternoon as they fell 1-0 in double overtime to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

After a scoreless regulation and first overtime for both squads, the Lady Patriots broke the 0-0 tie when Toni Dempsey found the net in the 109th minute. The Buffaloes recorded 21 shot and held an 11-8 shots on goal advantage. Kelsey Jones (Royersford, Pa.) had three shots on goal, while Rachel Martin (Blountville, Tenn.) and Gretchen Allie (Charlotte, N.C.) recorded two shots on goal apiece.

Defensively, AAC Defensive Player of the week Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded seven saves.

"We didn't play our best soccer today in a game that I felt we should have won," Head Coach Lisa Buckley said. "A bad call from an official hurt us, but we should not have been in that position."

With the loss, Milligan falls to 2-2-1 overall.

The Buffaloes open AAC action on Saturday, Sept. 17, when they travel to Bluefield College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
