Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2011) --- The Milligan College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Bluefield College in AAC action on Thursday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

The Buffaloes jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the game's first set, and held off a Bluefield charge to take the set by a score of 25-17. In the game's second set, the Lady Rams jumped out early, but Milligan stormed back to take a 25-19 set win. In the decisive third set, the Buffaloes pulled away early and cruised to a 25-15 win to secure the match.

Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 31 assists and 10 digs, while
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied up 25 digs.
Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded eight kills and four solo blocks. Freshman
Erin Pittman (Norris, Tenn.) and
Katelin Henson (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 15 and 10 digs, respectively, and
Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) had seven kills.

“We came out with a lot of energy and focus, and that set the tempo from the beginning,” Head Coach
Doneva Bays said. “It was also a great opportunity to get my bench some good game experience.”

With the win, Milligan improves to 5-3 in the AAC and 7-11 overall.

The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they host Tennessee Wesleyan to wrap up a three-game home stand. Game time is set for 11 a.m., inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
