Milligan women's soccer comes away with a tie

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 3, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team came away with a 1-1 tie against Brenau University on Saturday afternoon at Anglin Field.

The Buffaloes scored the first goal of the game in the 27th minute when Jacklyn Orange (Bagdad, Ky.) found the net. The teams stayed even throughout the rest of the half as Milligan took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half saw neither team able to take advantage of opportunities until the Golden Tigers got on the board in the 87th minute with a Jenny Kniber goal. In overtime, the defensive battle continued as neither team was able to break back onto the scoreboard.

Defensively, Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded 13 saves for Milligan.

"We had a good performance today," Head Coach Lisa Buckley said. "I cared more about performance than I cared about the result. We had good performances from Jackie Orange, who's been injured; Katie Brialis and Sadie Bradshaw as freshmen came in and made an impact on the team. I'm looking forward to going into Monday."

With the tie, Milligan moves to 0-1-1.

The Buffaloes return to action on Monday, Sept. 5, when they square off against NCAA Division-II foe Carson-Newman College. Game time is set for 7 p.m., in Jefferson City, Tenn.
