Buffaloes women's basketball drops close game to TWC

Athens, Tenn. (Jan. 14, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team was unable to regain a late lead as they fell 63-59 to AAC foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Athens, Tenn.
 
   Jamiee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) hit a jumper that gave the Buffaloes an early 8-5 lead five minutes into the game, but the Lady Bulldogs jumped back out in front. However, Milligan responded as the Buffaloes went on a run to lead by as many as eight points, and led 33-29 at the break.
 
   In the second half, Tennessee Wesleyan took advantage of an 18-6 run midway through the half to build up a 12-point advantage, but Milligan kept fighting as a Johneshia Good (Johnson City, Tenn.) drained a 3-pointer with just over two minutes left to cut the Milligan gap to one point. However, the Buffaloes were unable to get back in front before time expired.
 
   Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) and Good both recorded 13 points to lead the way for Milligan. Chelsey Weddle (Hampton, Tenn.) and Ashlee Price (Rogersville, Tenn.) ended the game with eight points apiece. Freeman had a team high seven rebounds.
 
   As a team, Milligan was 25-of-65 (39%) from the field and 4-of-14 (29%) from the 3-point line, while Tennessee Wesleyan ended the game 25-of-70 (36%) from the field and 4-of-18 (22%) from the 3-point line.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 3-4 in AAC action and 11-8 overall.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 18, as they host AAC newcomer Columbia College inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
