Milligan College, Tenn. (Jan. 9, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team saw a second half rally fall short as they fell 65-50 to Bluefield College in AAC action on Monday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
  Bluefield opened the game quickly as they started on an 8-0 run. Milligan fought back with a 3-pointer from
Johneshia Good (Johnson City, Tenn.) and a pair of free throws from
Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) to pull within three points five minutes into the game.
  The Lady Rams responded, however, as they embarked on a 18-5 run over the next 10 minutes to take a 31-10 lead. The Buffaloes used a 6-0 run towards the end of the half to close the gap, but trailed 37-16 at the break.
  Good led Milligan with her seven points in the first half. As a team, Milligan was 6-of-27 (22%) from the floor and 2-of-12 (17%) from the 3-point line in the first half, while Bluefield was 13-of-30 (43%) from the field and 4-of-11 (36%) from the 3-point line.
  Milligan started the second half on a 6-2 run, but the Lady Rams battles back with a 6-0 run of their own. Senior
Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) scored the next eight points, including two straight 3-pointers. That sparked the Buffaloes on a 14-5 run to close the gap to 51-36 midway through the half.
  After four straight Bluefield points, Milligan went on another run as they outscored the Lady Rams 14-3 capped off by a pair of baskets by
Jaimee Hill (Johnson City Tenn.) to cut the Milligan deficit to 65-55 with 1:30 left in the game. However, that was as close as the Buffaloes could get before time expired.

  Mainer led the way for Milligan with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Good ended the game with 10 points.

  As a team, Milligan ended the game 20-of-62 (32%) from the field and 5-of-23 (22%) from behind the arc, while Bluefield finished 23-of-59 (39%) from the floor and 6-of-19 (32%) from behind the 3-point line.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 10-7 overall and 2-3 in AAC action. Bluefield improves to 4-1 in conference play and 9-5 overall.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 11, when they host AAC rival Union (Ky.) College inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.ÂÂ
