Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2012) --- The Milligan College volleyball team fell 3-1 to nonconference foe Southern Wesleyan University on Wednesday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

  After Southern Wesleyan jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first set, the Buffaloes slowly trimmed into the lead as they pulled within one. However, Milligan could not jump back in front as they dropped the opening set 25-20. The second set saw Milligan lead early, but the Lady Warriors used a 12-2 run to propel them to a 25-14 set victory.

  The Buffaloes opened the third set on a 5-1 run, but Southern Wesleyan battled back to take a 14-11 lead. Milligan continued to fight as they regained a 19-15 lead and held on to take a 27-25 set victory. The decisive fourth set saw Southern Wesleyan pulled away to take a 25-14 set victory to secure the match victory.

Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 30 assists and eight digs, while
Rachel Renville (Broomfield, Colo.) and
Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) had 10 kills apiece.
Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) and
Kaitlyn Qualls (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied eight digs apiece. Freshman
Emilee Linkous (Morristown, Tenn.) added seven kills.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 12-10 overall and remain at 7-2 in AAC action.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, Oct. 12, when they host Reinhardt University in a conference battle. Match time inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse is slated for 6:30 p.m.
