Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 13, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team picked up their sixth straight victory as they defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Columbia College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Anglin Field.

  The Buffaloes were unable to take advantage of early opportunities. However, Milligan broke onto the board when
Grace Shawley (Mineral Springs, N.C.) scored on a free kick in the 21
st minute. Milligan was unable to add to their advantage before the half as they led 1-0 at the break.

  In the second half, the game remained physical with both teams having opportunities. However, the Buffaloes kept the Fighting Koalas off the board to preserve the victory and the team's sixth shutout of the season.

  Defensively,
Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded three saves.

  With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 8-4-1 overall and move into a tie for first place in the AAC with a 5-1-1 record.
