Milligan volleyball falls to Mars Hill

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2012) --- The Milligan College volleyball team fell 3-0 in a nonconference matchup to NCAA D-II Mars Hill College on Tuesday evening inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
 
   In the first set, the Buffaloes overcame an early deficit to pull within a point of the Lady Lions. However, Mars Hill ended the set on an 11-3 run to take a 25-16 set victory. The second set saw Milligan jump out to an early led, but the Lady Lions battled back and slowly pulled away to take a 25-19 victory. Mars Hill secured the match with a 25-8 win in the decisive third set.
 
   Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 15 assists in the match as she passed 4,000 assists in her career. Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) tallied up six kills, while Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) had eight digs and five kills. Kaitlyn Qualls (Broomfield, Colo.) and Katelin Henson (Kignsport, Tenn.) had 11 and nine digs, respectively.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 14-11 overall and remain at 9-2 in conference play.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, Oct. 19, as they travel to Columbia College for an AAC battle. Match time in Columbia, S.C., is slated for 6:30 p.m.
