Columbia, S.C. (Oct. 19, 2012) --- The Milligan College volleyball team picked up a 3-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference road victory on Friday night over Columbia College in Columbia, S.C.

  The Buffaloes opened the match on an 8-2 run and never looked back as they took a 25-15 first set victory. After the second set started 3-3, Milligan bounced out to a 8-3 lead. Columbia rallied to tie the match at 14 and again at 24, but a
Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) service ace gave the Buffaloes a 26-24 set victory.

  The third set saw both teams stay within a point of each other until the Fighting Koalas took a 25-20 set win. In the decisive fourth set, Milligan jumped out to a 5-2 lead before Columbia stormed back with six straight points. However, the Buffaloes slowly pulled away to secure the match with a 25-18 set victory.

Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) recorded 43 assists and eight digs.
Rachel Renville (Broomfield, Colo.) and
Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) had 12 kills apiece, while
Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 11 digs and 10 kills.
Katelin Henson (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied 22 digs. ÂÂ

  With the win, Milligan improves to 12-2 in AAC action and 14-11 overall.

   The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, as they travel to St. Andrews University for a tri-match with the Lady Knights and Winston Salem State University. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m.ÂÂ
