Milligan women's soccer falls to Southern Virginia

Buena Vista, Va. (Oct. 17, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team saw a six game winning streak snapped as they fell 2-1 to nonconference foe Southern Virginia University on Wednesday afternoon in Buena Vista, Va.
 
   The Lady Knights scored the game's first goal in the 12th minute, and then took a 2-0 lead in the 24th minute. Milligan continued to fight, but they were unable to close the gap as they trailed 2-0 at the break.
 
   In the second half, Grace Shawley (Mineral Springs, N.C.) scored for the Buffaloes as in the 59th minute as she took advantage of a free kick 30 yards out. Despite a hard fought effort, Milligan was unable to tie the game despite holding a 6-2 shot advantage in the half.
 
   Defensively, Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded four saves in the game.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 8-5-1 overall and remain at 5-1-1 in conference action.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, as they travel to Bryan College for an AAC clash. Match time in Dayton, Tenn., is slated for 4 p.m.
