Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 11, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team was unable to overcome a fast Tennessee Wesleyan start as they fell 100-87 to the AAC leading Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) opened the scoring for the Buffaloes as he scored the first six points for Milligan as they took an early 6-3 lead. However, the Bulldogs jumped ahead as they took a 26-14 lead midway through the half. Milligan kept fighting with points from
Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) and
Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.), but the Bulldogs pulled out to a 61-35 lead at the break.

  At the half,
Mickey Woods (Port Arthur, Tex.) led the way with eight points, while
Kyle Grisby (Charlotte, N.C.) added seven points. As a team, Milligan was 12-of-37 (32%) from the floor and 2-of-8 (25%) from the 3-point line. Tennessee Wesleyan was 22-of-32 (69%) from the field and 5-of-8 (63%) from behind the arc.

  In the second half, the Bulldogs extended their advantage, but the Buffaloes fought back with a 16-3 run sparked by points from Woods and a 3-pointer from
Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) to cut the gap to 78-56 five minutes into the half. However, Tennessee Wesleyan went on a 10-0 run to regain their advantage.

  Sitton sparked another Milligan run with a lay-up that saw the Buffaloes go on an 11-2 run that was capped by a Hardy basket, but the Bulldogs extended their advantage again. The Buffaloes kept fighting with six straight points from
Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.) to help close the gap to 13 points, but that was as close as Milligan could get.

  The Buffaloes were led by Grisby, who recorded 23 points. Hardy tallied up 13 points, while Sitton and DeVault had 12 points apiece. Woods ended the game with 10 points.

  As a team, Milligan was 29-of-73 (40%) from the field and 6-of-15 (40%) from the 3-point line. Tennessee Wesleyan ended the game 36-of-61 (59%) from the floor and 7-of-16 (44%) from the 3-point line.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 5-10 in the AAC and 9-16 overall.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18, when they host AAC newcomer Point University for senior day inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
