Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team picked up a 84-79 win over AAC newcomer Point University to celebrate senior day on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

  The teams traded shots to open the game, but the Skyhawks went on an 8-0 run to take a 16-6 lead five minutes into the half. A basket from
Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) broke the Point run, and sparked a 12-4 Milligan run to pull within three points with under six minutes left in the frame. Point extended their lead back to 10, but another Buffaloes run cut the gap to 36-30 at the half.

  At the half, senior
Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 10 points. As a team, Milligan was 12-of-36 (33%) from the field and 1-of-12 (8%) from the 3-point line. Point ended the half 14-of-35 (40%) from the floor and 6-of-19 (32%) from behind the arc.

  After the Skyhawks extended their lead to 11 to start the second half,
Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) scored eight straight points, and then
Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.) and Woods hit baskets to put the Buffaloes in front 45-44 five minutes into the half. Point responded as the jumped back into the lead, but the Buffaloes went on a 6-0 run to take a 52-48 lead with 10 minutes left in the half.

Cory Hendren (Lexington, S.C.) drained a 3-pointer and Seymour added six straight points again as the Buffaloes went up 64-50. The Skyhawks trimmed the lead back to 10 points, and then cut the lead to 82-79 with 30 seconds left. However, the Buffaloes saw Hardy hit two free throws to preserve the win.

  Seymour led the way with a season high 24 points, while Hardy ended the game with 23 points, a season high for the senior. Sitton and Woods had 10 and nine points, respectively.

  As a team, the Buffaloes were 32-of-63 (51%) from the floor and 3-of-18 (17%) from behind the arc. Point ended the night 28-of-64 (44%) from the field and 11-of-32 (34%) from the 3-point line.

  With the win, Milligan finishes the regular season 10-16 overall and 6-10 overall.

  The Buffaloes will begin the AAC tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 21, on the road. Their seeding and opponent for the first round game will be determined later in the weekend. All AAC tournament games will start at 7 p.m.
