Milligan College, Tenn. (March 13, 2012) --- The Milligan College baseball team pulled away late to take a 12-2 victory over NCAA D-III Roanoke College on Tuesday night at Anglin Field.

  After the first three innings went scoreless, the Buffaloes opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when
Joe Purus (Hudson, N.C.) and
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) crossed the plate. The Maroons answered with two runs of their own in the top of sixth.

  However, the Buffaloes responded in the home side of the sixth. A
Tyree Jefferies (Jackson, Tenn.) double drove Kolat cross the plate, and then a Jefferies scored on a Purus double.
Ryan White (Knoxville, Tenn.) drove Purus across the plate to cap the three run inning for the Buffaloes. Milligan added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh and then the Buffaloes added four more runs to pull away for the victory.

  On the mound,
Tyler Wilson (Johnson City, Tenn.) got the win on the mound. In six innings of work, Wilson allowed two earned runs on four hits and recorded four strikeouts.

  Purus and Jefferies were both 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Kolat ended the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

  With the win, Milligan improves to 12-14 overall.

  The Buffaloes continue nonconference play on Wednesday, March 14, when they travel to Emory and Henry. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
