Milligan College, Tenn. (March 14, 2012) --- The Milligan College softball team swept a pair of nonconference games on Wednesday afternoon with NCAA Division III Tusculum College at Anglin Field. The Buffaloes were unable to answer an eighth inning run as they fell 1-0 in the first game, but then used a strong first inning to take a 6-0 win in the second game.

  In the first game, neither team was able to get a run on the board in regulation. Tusculum took advantage of the international tiebreaker as they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth. The Buffaloes got runners on the bases in the home side of the frame, but they were unable to drive the run across to extend the game.

Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) and AAC Player of the week
Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) were both 2-for-4. Freshman
Sarah Arrowood (Asheville, N.C.) and
Maleah Wolfenbarger (Knoxville, Tenn.) were 1-for-2.

  In the pitching circle,
Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) was handed the loss. In a complete game effort, Connatser allowed just one hit and recorded eight strikeouts.

  In the second game, Connatser sparked the Buffaloes as she drove in three runs on a double, and Milligan added three more runs to take a 6-0 lead after one. The Milligan defense kept the Lady Pioneers off the scoreboard as Milligan went on to take the win.

  Connatser picked up her second win of the day as she allowed just four hits in six innings of work. The sophomore also led the way at the plate as she went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Wolfenbarger finished the game 2-for-3.

  With the sweep, Milligan moves to 15-11 overall and they remain 2-0 in AAC action.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, March 17, when they host AAC foe Union (Ky.) College at Anglin Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
