Milligan College, Tenn. (March 28, 2012) --- The Milligan College baseball team was unable to respond to a late Southern Wesleyan rally as they fell 4-2 in nonconference action on Wednesday afternoon at Anglin Field.

  After keeping the Warriors off the board to open the game, Milligan scored two runs in the bottom of the first as
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) drove in
Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) and a
Joe Purus (Hudson, N.C.) single drove in
Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.). Southern Wesleyan added single runs in the second and fourth to tie the game midway through the contest.

  Milligan was able to get the bases loaded in the home side of the fourth, but was unable to get a runner across the plate. Neither team was able to score a run until the Warriors put two runs on the board in the top of the eighth. The Buffaloes got the game winning run to the plate in the bottom of the eighth and then the game tying run in the ninth, but they were unable to get the runs on the board.

Tyler Wilson (Johnson City, Tenn.) got the start on the mound for Milligan and recorded a no decision. In six innings of work, Wilson gave up two runs on six hits. Freshman
Jake Watts (Boone, N.C.) was handed the loss.

  At the plate, Jones was 3-for-4. Kolat finished the game 2-for-5 with one RBI. Purus also had an RBI for Milligan.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 16-19 overall.

  The Buffaloes are slated to return to action on Saturday, March 31, when they host AAC foe Montreat College for a conference doubleheader. Game time is set for 1 p.m., at Anglin Field.
